Fundraising for our local Good Causes

Throughout the year HDPP goes out and about fundraising for local good causes. Once a year nomination are invited from the members to shortlist the causes. The Fundraisers then decide  who will be awarded a share of the monies raised during the year.

Hinckley District Past & Present (HDPP) celebrated its fifth birthday by donating just over £3000 to local good causes that were nominated by its members.

The group headed by husband and wife team of Paul & Sue Gardner and assisted by their dedicated team of fundraisers spent the last twelve months attending local events and at the same time selling their in house dvd’s, holding raffles etc.

The group’s pictures feature in the middle of The Hinckley Times most weeks and have proved very popular with its readership.

Paul said “This is our biggest night of the year when the fruits of the membership and fundraisers come together. All monies raised from our activities throughout the year are divided up and donated to the local good causes that have been nominated by HDPP members.”

The group has become very popular visiting local schools, groups and residential homes with their various picture shows and films.

Membership of the group on Facebook keeps growing weekly and so far has over 9,300 members. Photos, memories & Friends is the group strapline and many have made new friends through HDPP.

But as Paul says “You don’t have to be on Facebook to get involved with the group.” Many members enjoy the monthly social nights held at the function room of the Greyhound on the fourth Wednesday every month at 7.30 pm. Normally a guest speaker or film show of local interest will be shown. Admission is free and there is a raffle.  Everybody are welcome to just turn up. A warm welcome awaits you.

We also want to thank our super group supporters, local business’s that have helped us along the way including Brookfield Signs, G.Seller, Proppa Coffee, Jaspers of Hinckley, Paul of Hinckley photographed to name but a few.
